Delete your account and data

Last updated: 15 September 2026

This page explains how to delete your account in the Jibiyar app, what is erased when you do, and the little that is kept and why. If you only want some of your data removed and would rather keep your account, section 4 covers that.

1. Deleting from inside the app

The fastest route, and the one we recommend:

  • Open Jibiyar and sign in.
  • Go to Settings from the menu.
  • Tap Delete account.
  • Read the warning and confirm.

2. If you cannot get into the app

If you can no longer sign in — you lost the phone number, for example — send us the request through one of these and say that you want your account and your data deleted:

Include the phone number or email address you registered with, so we can find the account. Before we delete anything we will ask you to confirm you own that number or address; this is what stops someone deleting an account that is not theirs.

We answer data requests within seven working days at the latest.

3. What deleting your account erases

All of the following is removed from our servers immediately and permanently. It cannot be undone, and we do not keep a copy to restore from:

  • Your account, and the phone number or email address you signed in with.
  • Every transaction — expenses, income, amounts, descriptions, dates and notes.
  • Your categories, both the default ones and any you created.
  • Your entire conversation with the assistant, your messages and its replies alike.
  • Every voice recording and its transcript. The audio files live outside the database and are erased separately; if that erasure fails for any reason, the whole deletion stops rather than leave anything behind.
  • The corrections you made to anything it misheard.
  • Your savings plans and subscriptions.
  • Every active session on every device.

4. Deleting some data without deleting your account

You do not have to delete your account to have data removed:

  • A single transaction or conversation: press and hold it in the app and delete it. Any expense recorded from that exchange goes with it.
  • All of your voice recordings: withdraw your consent to keeping audio. Tell us through any channel in section 2 and your recordings are erased and no further ones are kept. The app works without them.
  • Anything else: write to us through section 2 and say exactly what should go.

5. What is kept, and why

Two things survive the deletion. Neither is a transaction, a recording or a conversation, and neither holds your phone number or email address:

  • Our own cost records. What a speech request or an SMS cost us. These are our accounting records rather than a description of you: once the account is gone, the identifier left on those rows leads to no user, and the phone number in an SMS record is stored masked from the moment it is written — only the last four digits, as ••••4567.
  • A one-way trace of your subscription history. In place of your phone number or email we keep a one-way hash of it, together with the plan and the start and end dates — and nothing else. It is there for two reasons: so the free month cannot be claimed again and again by deleting and re-registering, and so that if you ever come back, the days you had already paid for come back with you. These rows have no automatic expiry.

6. Backups and technical logs

Database backups. We take scheduled, encrypted backups of the database. Data you have deleted remains in those copies until they expire and are overwritten on their own rotation. We never use a backup to bring back a deleted account; backups exist for recovery after a failure.

Error reports and server logs. These are kept separately from your account data and currently have no automatic expiry. We are adding one; until then this sentence is the honest state of it.

7. What happens afterwards

You are signed out immediately and every session is revoked.

Your phone number or email address is released, and you can register with it again whenever you like — but that account is new and has no access to anything from before, because none of it is there any more.

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through Google Play or any other store. If you have an active store subscription, cancel it in that store's own settings.
